Our 5th race of the season is complete and in the book.... NOT !!! Our race today (07/13/08) was hot & muggy, with a fair breaze that helped to keep it 'somewhat' comfortable. We were called to the 1st round about 15 minutes early as the track personal were keeping track of a nasty thunderstorm was making it's way to the greater Hagerstown area. A sure thing this time, rain
was on it's way. We had 9 warriors and 6 street cars make the 1st round, making us wonder if we'd get the complete race in. We we made it through the finals in street. Dan Albright took the win over Andy Dolan.
In Warrior, we made it through the semi-final round, pairing up Wayne Aamold up against Milt Marple for the final. The final round was called to the lanes, and the rain unloaded. It started light but very quickly turned into a downpour. & there was some thunder & lighting to boot. The track finally called it a day. We gave Wayne and Milt a choice of splitting the purse or completing the final at the next race. They chose the 2nd option and we will hold the final of Warrior for this race at our next race at Mason Dixon.
The points for Street have been posted. In Street, Dan's win jumped him from 4th place to the number 1 spot. (use your REFRESH button if it does not show up!)
In Warrior, without the final completed, the points sheet cannot be completed. But, we've posted
an update showing the points for everyone else complete, and only showed both Wayne's and Milt's points as of the end of the semi-final round. If they both show and stage for the "final" round, each gets another 10 points. The winner will get 14, the runner up 3. So, the winner will get another 24 points to what is show on the points listing, with the runner up getting another 13.
Without having these this final round complete with the stats, we will hold off on determining most of the non-cash prizes.
We'd like to thank everyone that came out today. We know it's getting rough at the gas pump for both the race fuel and the fuel for the tow. Thanks for everyone that stuck it out and helped us tear down our tent, banner and all of our equipment. I think everything was loaded before the skies let loose. And a big thanks to Shawn B for taking care of the lanes & run sheets, especially that last one, which was in the rain! -- Jim Staub 07.13.2008 |

Our 2 race weekend at Beaver Springs Dragway is in the bag! While car counts were down, due to the possible bad weather on Saturday and the cost of gas, those Outlaws that made the trip took up the challenge and showed everyone present what a group of Pontiacs can do!!
The OPDS invasion of BSD actually started on Friday evening, with Shawn Miller taking the top spot in BSD's Outlaw Street Class. That's what we like to see! Pontiacs mowing down the field! Congrats to Shawn for showing the "dark side" what the Outlaws can do !!!
On Saturday, the on and off light rain pushed the program to later than expected, with Troy Tribby taking the top spot and Wayne Garrison taking the runnerup honors in Warrior. Street ended up with Greg Orris and Dan Albright in the finals, with Greg taking the win. The Performance Years Outlaw Shootout had Greg besting Troy.
Sunday's race was run under much better weather, sunny and hot, with the humidity down. In the Warrior final, it was Jim Prisk over Stu Kincaid. This was Jim's 1st Outlaw race of the year. I'm not buying Jim's early morning comment "I'm rusty"!! Street was again Greg's race, taking out Scott Karsten in the final. Jim took the win over Greg Orris in the PY Shootout.
As with the last two years, Beaver Bob put out the red carpet for the Outlaws and went above and beyond in supporting our series. Steve Dress, along with Sunday's winners, presented Bob with this years OPDS Coffee Table book.

Points have been posted on our Points page. Amy has posted the pics here.

The results and points as of Race 2 are posted on the Points page. A number of our regulars posted personal bests in their quest for quicker ET's. Wayne Garrision is happy he is now in the 9's. And his engine builder (Jack Gaydosh) gave a high-5 to everyone on the starting line when Wayne posted a high 9 on the 1st time run of the day. He went on to win the Warrior class, staying in the 9's all day, posting a 9.77, 9.80, 9.75 and a 9.74 in competition.
Also, the date for the Burdette Brother's car show is incorrect on our schedule page. The correct date is Sunday June 1st. NOT June 8 as we are showing. Thanks to Troy Tribby for following up on this error and confirming the correct date. -- Jim Staub. 05.04.2008 |

We are pleased to announce that Certified Auto Repair, Inc is our newest sponsor. Certified Auto Repair is owned and operated by Greg Orris, our 2007 Street Champion. Greg announced his decision to come onboard at our '07 banquet. Anyone that has come up against Greg on the starting line can attest that he is all business when it comes time to win. But there is also another side to Greg. Greg and Steve (Dress) were in a heated battle for the OPDS Banner during the auction at the banquet. Greg ended up with the banner, but when he later discovered that to Steve the banner represented ten years of dedicated work for our series, Greg offered the banner to Steve for his last bid and Greg kicked in the difference, so that the "Outlaws" still benefited from Greg's high bid. All in all, a class act!

Our 2007 Awards Banquet was a great success. From the catching up with those we've missed for the past few months, the "practice" on the tree, the good food, the awarding of our racers, the auctioning off of special OPDS items and the sound of the Gaydosh Performance Pro Stock GTO, everyone left happy. Check out all the pics by clicking on one of the pics shown here. -- Jim Staub. 02.20.2008 |

| Jack and Tina Gaydosh are moving. Moving to NHRA Pro Stock racing! They are purchasing Jim Yates' current Pro Stock GTO. They will be leasing a Pro Stock motor for Pro Stock competition, while using a "mule" for any other racing, including running with us as schedules permit. Look for Jack & Tina at some of the East Coast NHRA national events and cheer them on to victory! |
